Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE)

Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) is a controlled workflow in which human linguists review machine-translated output for the content, terminology and intended use of a project.

When MTPE is appropriate

MTPE can be suitable for defined content types and use cases. It is not appropriate for every project: the source material, audience, risk and required quality level need to be assessed first.

Human review and terminology

Linguists review machine output against the source, terminology and context. The depth of editing is agreed around the intended use, rather than treating all output as equivalent.

Quality workflow

CauLingo’s ISO 18587 certification relates to post-editing of machine translation. MTPE projects are planned with documented requirements, human review and QA appropriate to the agreed workflow. Learn more about quality processes.
